When Natalie and Tim Killassy became aware of the effect that disabling injuries had on people employed in the mining industry, they vowed to do something about it. As a beginning, Natalie decided to teach disabled people a new skill: sewing. Thus, Stitch Wise was formed in 1996 and, by adapting sewing machines and over-lockers, paraplegics were able to be taught a new skill.
